But wait. Why should the city's utility poles be assumed the provincial turf of free advertising for local music venues?
Why not charge to sell advertising on utility poles? Let's see: 250,000 utility poles citywide, perhaps three tasteful display faces per pole, maybe $5 per display per month.
Utility poles are appropriate for advertising for all or for none. If for all, this advertising asset should be leased, and not just another City Hall give-away.
