Posters present dangerous situation to lineworkers

Darral Good wrote to you regarding the ban of advertising on utility poles. He claimed the colorful, informative posters were part of Seattle history.

I am married to a crew chief for Seattle City Light. He works on overhead utility poles and underground services. Apparently Good doesn't realize the hazards posters on utility poles present to lineworkers. Posters nailed on utility poles create a safety issue for lineworkers climbing the pole. Their boots can get caught, their pants torn, the skin could be torn, etc.

In banning posters on utility poles, the city attorney, Mark Sidran, is trying to provide a safe environment for line, telephone and cable workers, along with litter control.
