City of Seattle threatens anti-war poster creator
The City of Seattle is threatening to fine a student activist for an anti-war web site featuring downloadable posters.
Thomas Hays of ReplacementsNeeded.com is facing a $50 per poster fine for every poster the city says was printed from his web site. See the Dec. 2005 articles in the Post Intelligencer and The Stranger.
Free Speech Seattle wholly disagrees with the City's position and their harassment of Mr. Hays. This whole episode would be laughable were the city not spending taxpayer dollars to infringe on Mr. Hays' constitutional right to free speech.
To express our disagreement with the city, and to support Mr. Hays' legal case, we are making some of his posters available on the Free Speech Seattle web site. The city can not, in good faith, claim that Replacements Needed posters found on Seattle utility poles were downloaded from Mr. Hays' web site; these same posters are available here and on The Stranger's web site.
Click on the poster images below for a larger, printable version. For more posters, visit ReplacementsNeeded.com. The posters on this site have been posted without Mr. Hays' consent.
